UNBELIEVABLE SHARPNESS
The fast autofocus works with utmost reliability. The image stabilizer (VR), which achieves 5.5 stops of light effectiveness, enables freehand shooting with longer exposure times without sacrificing sharpness. The Lens's outstanding resolution is maintained even when using a teleconverter.
EXCEPTIONAL RESOLUTION
Nikon's ED and Super ED glass grades minimize chromatic aberration from the center of the image to the edges. Nikon's ARNEO and Nano Crystal Coatings reduce reflections as well as flare and ghosting.
UNBELIEVABLE CLOSEST FOCUS
The closest focusing distance is only 0.75 m at the shortest focal length and 0.98 m at the longest focal length.
ROBUST AND DURABLE
The weatherproof seal keeps out dust and moisture, especially on the bayonet and all moving parts.1 The front lens features Nikon's Flour coating with non-stick properties, which repels dust and moisture and is easy to clean.
PERFECT BALANCE WITHOUT ZOOM CREEP
The center of gravity of the Lens remains the same when zooming, and the Lens doesn't adjust itself when you shoot up or down. You don't even have to lock it beforehand.
PROVEN ERGONOMICS FROM NIKON
The zoom ring allows you to zoom from 100mm to maximum telephoto without changing the grip. Aperture can be adjusted virtually silently and ISO or exposure compensation can be set using the control ring. Two programmable Fn buttons offer outstanding versatility.

Focus breathing has been significantly reduced, so the angle of view remains nearly constant when focusing. Iris control is smooth and stable.
