Challenge #3 - In front of your door

Unsere Gewinner

as part of the Online Photo Online Fototage 2020

The third challenge of the Online Photo Days was all about the theme "In front of your door". In addition to this challenge, there were 3 respective tasks to set you certain creative landmarks: Landmarks, Street and Details. During this time, you became photographically active or picked out existing pictures to take a closer look at them again. The decision was not easy for us, there were great and creative submissions and we tried to pick out the best! These are our winners of the 3rd Challenge.

Here are the tasks again:

Go ahead and fulfill the following photographic tasks. The pictures do not necessarily have to be taken now, i.e. you can also send in existing pictures, but try to take it as an incentive to become photographically active now.

1. Landmarks

Show us prominent landmarks in your town or surroundings. Whether it's the old village oak tree or the television tower.

2. Street

Capture life and show us your street photos.

3. Details

Go in search of special details. This could be a beautifully designed house number, a funny garden gnome or another interesting detail that is easily overlooked.

Igor Popovic

Theme: Landmark

About the image:

The photo was taken in December 2019 on the Nelson Memorial in Edinbourgh. I climbed to the top and checked the clean spot on the hazy window, just perfect. I changed the camera lens and took a shot of Balmoral Hotel clock and Princess Street.

Martin Heymel

Winner on the topic "Details"

About the photographer Martin Heymel:

I have been photographing for 6 years and have been traveling with my camera in Hamburg since 2016. I am particularly interested in nature and landscape photography as well as the hustle and bustle of the city. Since I find the topic of bicycles and the traffic turnaround very exciting, bicycles are always among my motifs. This photo was taken during a photo walk through Hamburg's Karolinenviertel, where I discovered this detail on one of the countless bicycles in the area. The picture was taken with my Sony Alpha 7ii and the Sony Zeiss 55mm F1.8 at open aperture, ISO 100 and 1/60 sec.

Dr. Axel Tenter

Winner on the topic "Street"

About the photographer Dr. Axel Tenter:

The picture was taken in preparation for a VHS course on street photography around Cologne Cathedral in September 2018. As a beginner, the pavement painter on the Domplatte was a grateful subject for me and his art was of course also honored with a small fee. When setting up the picture, I tried to put the knowledge I had accumulated from literature and the internet into practice: close to the subject, low point of view, leading lines, rule of thirds ... plus the settings of the new camera. At the time, it was actually far too much for the practical implementation in my first planned street photo. In the end, I was also very lucky that the background fit so well, as I hadn't really paid attention to it in the hectic rush.
