Sony offers a wide selection of cameras in various price ranges. However, there are two models that are perfect for travel photography:
The Alpha 7 V and the Alpha 6700.
The Alpha 7 V is Sony’s most popular full-frame camera, and for good reason! Equipped with a 33-megapixel full-frame sensor, this hybrid camera strikes the perfect balance between high resolution and flexibility. The excellent autofocus system with face detection and tracking allows you to focus entirely on composing your shot. The camera is not only a wise long-term investment for beginners but is also a favorite among absolute pros. By the way, there’s a more compact alternative in the form of its sibling model, the Alpha 7C II. It even comes with AI autofocus and advanced image stabilization. You can find more info on the Alpha 7C II in our video review.
The Alpha 6700 is aimed at ambitious beginners, APS-C enthusiasts, and content creators who value speed and flexibility. With its 26-megapixel APS-C sensor, fast autofocus, and Eye AF for both people and animals, it delivers razor-sharp results in any situation. Thanks to 4K video with oversampling and the flip-out display, it’s also perfect for vlogging and social media content.
For those on a tighter budget, Sony naturally offers several options as well. One of these is the ZV-E10 APS-C camera, which, despite its compact body, features the versatile Sony E-Mount.

Whether it’s a city break, sun-kissed beaches, or mountain air: With Sony’s G and G Master lenses, you’re ready for any travel scenario.
High-quality optics, fast AF performance, and reliable build quality ensure razor-sharp results—day or night, for both photos and videos.
Many Sony lenses also feature a manual aperture ring (with click/de-click), ideal for creative work on the go.
Why choose Sony G & GM lenses for travel?
- First-class image quality & high-contrast colors
- Compact design for light luggage
- Reliable in all weather conditions
- Fast, precise autofocus
When it comes to travel photography, three Sony zoom lenses really stand out. With any of these lenses, every trip is covered with confidence:
As an entry-level all-rounder , the FE 24–105mm f/4.0 G accompanies you from wide panoramas to fine details. With consistent aperture and built-in image stabilization, it’s a reliable go-to lens.
If you prefer something particularly lightweight and versatile, the FE 20–70mm f/4 G delivers more of the scene even at 20mm—whether in a maze of narrow alleys, along the coast, or at the summit—compact, travel-friendly, and with a consistent f/4 aperture for both photos and video.
For maximum quality, go with the FE 24–70mm f/2.8 GM II: fast enough for atmospheric shots in low light, with creamy bokeh, lightning-fast autofocus, and a further weight-optimized design. The best of Sony in your carry-on!
These three Sony G & G-Master lenses cover all the most important travel scenarios and bring you home safely with sharp, high-contrast results.
Pack lighter and tell bigger stories!
Of course, Sony also offers suitable and extremely versatile lenses for smaller budgets.
